lyrics
skyscrapers are bleeding smoke
thrashing all of heaven's hope from poor minds below
caught ablaze writhes the broken child
hands to armor tied mechanized self slaughter
hypnotized by LSD and television
faces re-erase themselves from past relations
now blank hostility caught in the liminal
the child charades anonymized internal criminals
i don't want your money i just want your death
the culprit child screamed while shooting down his heroin
it's dark so he makes his bed in crumbling dirt
and drifts into the low
borrowed broken child
spit out all you have learned
not your fault but i think
screams are all you have earned
borrowing for time
borrowing for time to pray
borrowing for time to pay
the holiest of telephone lines reached you from the highway and cried that the dark side is never where the day began
so you took to the stars and drew maps of the galaxy because you knew you had star signs of hiking ahead
This one also took me a while to get into. It strikes me as less HC than Untitled and less poppy than Ultrapop (stupid I know). Let's call this the No Wave record. Its musical (and amusical) density is matching the persistent sound in my head right now. barnaby nygren
Toronto band Respire deliver a post-hardcore tour de force on the largest scale possible, orchestrally rich and incessantly uncompromising. Bandcamp New & Notable Jan 6, 2021
On this raging triad of smart, pit-starting confessionals, the Canadian metalcore band ponder just as hard as they pummel. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 13, 2018
Polish noise-crust outfit eschews the big Tragedy-esque riffs still popular with their US counterparts for scratchy claustrophobia. Bandcamp New & Notable Nov 2, 2016
Quite possibly the most full-on album I've ever listened to. Intense, and then some. 'Digital Tarpit' could describe both the track and the whole album: high-pitched guitar squeals that make your fillings itch coupled with merciless, suffocating heaviness. The Avenell-esque vocals top it off perfectly.
Brilliant - punishing, but brilliant. jim_fuego
